FISH OIL & ALGAE OIL

Omega-3 fatty acids play a vital role in supporting overall health and normal bodily function. They are classified as essential polyunsaturated fats, meaning the body cannot make them on its own and must obtain them from food or supplementation.

The two most commonly recognised forms of Omega-3 are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Fish Oil

Did you know that standard fish oil usually provides Omega-3 fatty acids in a ratio of roughly 18% EPA and 12% DHA?

In nature, ocean fish contain these fats in the form of triglycerides, which is their original structure. When manufacturers aim to create more concentrated Omega-3 oils, the fatty acids are first separated from glycerol. Through a chemical process called esterification, EPA and DHA are transformed into what are known as ethyl esters. This structure differs significantly from that of natural fish oil, which retains glycerol.

Royal Green uses two additional patented processes to bind glycerol back onto the concentrated EPA and DHA. This results in a fish oil that closely mirrors its natural triglyceride form. Research indicates that Omega-3 oils in triglyceride form are absorbed more efficiently by the body.

Tocopherols & Totox

To protect the oil from oxidation, tocopherols are added as natural antioxidants. Each production batch is carefully tested for both tocopherol levels and Totox values. Royal Green fish oil has a certified Totox value below 10, which is significantly lower than the European EFSA limit of 25.
